According to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students to study at the diploma, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate levels in the Kingdom. Both students who are legal residents of the Kingdom and those who are students who reside in Pakistan may apply.

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of Pakistan or the AJK.
  • Scholarships from Pakistan will be awarded to 75% of the applicants. Pakistani citizens who are Kingdom residents will get 25% of the scholarships.
  • Both men and women who wish to apply are eligible for these awards.
  • As of the application site's closing date for the relevant university, the candidate must be between the ages of 17 and 25 for bachelor's programmes, under 30 for master's programmes, and under 35 for PhD programmes.
  • Each year, in September or October, the selected applicants will start their different programmes in Saudi Arabia.
  • The candidate cannot hold any other scholarships at the time of application for the Saudi scholarship.
  • The applicant must not have a criminal record.
  • The candidate cannot have previously been suspended from a school due to disciplinary issues or other legal reasons.
  • any extra requirements set by the Saudi government or the appropriate Saudi university.

Scholarship advantages:

  • a three-month furnishing allowance upon arrival in Saudi Arabia for married academics.

  • Free medical treatment for the student and, if they are married, their family.
  • three months' worth of graduation pay for book shipment.
  • Sponsored meals are served to the entire campus.
  • Sports and recreational activities on campus, financial aid for dependents, and travel expenses.
  • The monthly allowance for science students will be 900 Saudi Riyals (SR), while the monthly allowance for humanities students will be 850 SR.

The application process for scholarships:

  • On the website or online application portal of the appropriate Saudi university, a direct application is necessary.
  • Each university has its own set of eligibility standards and application deadlines. Students must consult the website for details on the qualifying requirements for each subject, course, and university.
  • Scholarships are provided at the diploma, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate levels.
  • These scholarships are open to almost all academic disciplines, including political science, law, administration, education, economics, engineering, computer science, agriculture, Arabic/Islamic studies, and media sciences.
  • Below is a list of the 25 universities in the Kingdom that are presently giving out these scholarships.
  • Except for Princess Noor Binte Abdul Rehman University for Girls in Riyadh and Jamia Islamia Madinah Munawara, each university is only permitted to accept 5% of overseas students. Princess Noor Binte Abdul Rehman University for Girls in Riyadh admits 8% of students on scholarships, compared to Jamia Islamia Madinah Munawara, which admits 85% of students on scholarships.
  • The Saudi Ministry of Education, which makes the ultimate decisions about the awarding of scholarships to deserving candidates, will receive the application from the university.
  • For follow-up with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education and the appropriate university regarding the awarding of scholarships, applicants should send a copy of their completed application to Riyadh Pahrepriyad@mofa.gov.pk, the official email address of the Pakistani embassy.

Only after obtaining the scholarship programme through diplomatic routes has HEC made it public. Prospective applicants are advised to apply online at Saudi university websites and email the downloaded application form to Pakistan's embassy in Riyadh at Pahrepriyad@mofa.gov.pk in order to follow up with the Saudi Ministry of Education on the awarding of scholarships. The appropriate Saudi university should receive direct enquiries on the issue programme.
